We are happy to announce that UBU and JGVK received a positive answer for our application to CISU for the new project in India ”Resilience in North and South 24 Parganas, West Bengal – Preparedness for future water related disasters”. Thus the license committee granted us 2.7 million DKK to our project, which will start by August 1st this year.
This is a great opportunity for JGVK together with UBU to get flooding, ground water scarcity and arsenic contamination on the agenda in West Bengal.
UBU India group have met during June and July to organise and plan the start-up of the early project activities.
Two members of the UBU India group, Alexander Holm Koch and Henrik Bregnhøj will visit JGVK in September to help start up the activities in India. This includes a presentation of the topics to the staff and practical training in GPS measurements. Right now JGVK is working on setting up a team of local staff for the project.
Next meeting in the India group in Denmark is 4th of September, where focus will be on how we make a good baseline survey, which will be useful during the project period.
