Kristina Marker and Henrik Bregnhøj went to West Bengal from March 11 to March 22, 2014 to further specify and develop our application for the resilience project in collaboration with our partner organisations during 10 years – JGVK and other smaller organisations. The main purpose of the trip was to strengthen our understanding and description of advocacy aspects of the project. Together with JGVK Kristina and Henrik arranged workshops and meetings to indentify important stakeholders, develop an advocacy approach etc. In addition they went on field visits, met with Block development officers and Jadavpur University. Apart from these activities, the evenings were spent on writing the application for CISU with deadline April 1st. After their return to Denmark UBU’s India group met to make final corrections in the application.
The project, “Resilience in North and South 24 Parganas, West Bengal – Preparedness for future water related disasters”, is planned to stretch over 3 years. The four main topics are preparedness for cyclones, flooding, groundwater depletion and arsenic management.
