Resilience in North and South 24 Parganas, West Bengal

Today UBU handed in a proposal for a major development project in India to CISU. The project title is “Resilience in North and South 24 Parganas, West Bengal – Preparedness for the future” and deals with four different topics:

Flooding from cyclones/hurricanes
Flooding from rain
Groundwater depletion
Arsenic management

The application has been composed by UBU’s India group and the local partner JGVK, on the basis of problems addressed by the local communities.
The development objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of rural communities of North and South 24 Parganas. The project activities will include a combination of common research activities, preparation of preparedness framework at Block level and creation of awareness and local plans at village level for the Block. We are looking forward to the feedback from CISU and hope that it will be possible to implement the project.
